“Around the Campfire” Profile: Linda Ashworth

Who’s around our campfire? Each week we will profile a different TEDActive 2013 attendee and give you a peek into what they have to share around the fire in Palm Springs. This week, meet Linda!

Where are you from? 
A native Californian, I live on the central coast of CA (between LA and SF) near the town of San Luis Obispo, named the “happiest city in America by author author Dan Buettner.

Where is your favorite place on earth? 
Wherever I am on a trail with no sign of civilization.

What interests you? 
So many things…..people’s stories, experiencing other cultures, music education, saving the environment.

What problem are you trying to solve?
I am working on being more open and intimate with others.

What’s your favorite thing about TEDActive?
Being with and being inspired by such a vibrant group of people.

What’s your favorite TED Talk? 
Jill Bolte Taylor’s stroke of insight … it’s the one that got me hooked!

What piece of advice would you give to someone coming to TEDActive for the first time?
Never miss a talk. You never know which one will touch you the most.  I guarantee it will be one you do not expect!

What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Connection with others.

  3. These questions are very generic and lead to generic answers. How come these profiles don’t actually tell us about the person? I want to know what folks do, their stories. I know it’s often taboo to ask about one’s work (let’s all just be people around the campfire)- but when we live a life of passion- our selves and work are one in the same. Is there somewhere where I can learn more about all the people attending to decide if I’m going to participate this coming year? I’m having to google people and am coming up short on results.
