#DisruptTEDActive: Week in Review

This year, TEDActive kicked off with a new series of challenges for attendees: Leyla Acaroglu and TEDActive’s Creative Director Grace Rodriguez introduced the first ever #DisruptTEDActive program, offering a new challenge for every day of the week. The program was designed to encourage a variety of actions, from Starting a Revolution to encouraging attendees to meet people outside of their usual social circles. With each challenge, attendees were encouraged to document their efforts and post images and videos to Instagram and Twitter with #DisruptTEDActive.

MONDAY started with revolution. Attendees were encouraged to announce their “missions” to the group and gather followers, building teams to push their revolutions forward.

TUESDAY was all about myth busting. Attendees were given cards with riddles as well as the answers to those riddles. Once each person found another person who held the same riddle (often, though, with a different answer to the riddle), they were encouraged to take a picture together and post the image.

One of the most creative groups started with the riddle: Tear off my skin and I won’t cry. But you will. What am I?

The answer was “an onion.”

From there, the group decided to form a human onion and share it with us over Instagram.

WEDNESDAY followed with Move Like You Mean It! The challenge was to move against the status quo. Make every moment a moving one. Be the random dancer, the singalong leader, the improv performance artist — move your body to move your mind!

Attendees took this challenge seriously through out the rest of the week. Even on the last day when Aloe Blacc performed in the final session!

THURSDAY was all about reflection. Attendees took time to enjoy the meditation space, go for walks, and visit the Art of Stillness between sessions.

FRIDAY was about paying it forward and taking the revolutions started during the week live into the rest of the world. We’re excited to see what happens with this active community throughout the rest of the year!
